NSA Maryland Rec-Caliber Team Tournament Registration Process |
First you must sanction your team with NSA. This is a once a year process regardless of the number of tournaments your team enters. This process is done over the internet by going to www.nsamaryland.com/youth and clicking on the Team Sanction link and following the procedures listed there. It costs $20 and during the process you will be instructed to send a $20 check to the appropriate director. All NSA sanctioned teams MUST have liability insurance with a minimum of $2M of coverage. For many teams this insurance is already provided by their parent organization (local recreation council, local government, sponsoring club, etc). Please check with them about this and acquiring a certificate of insurance that shows the amount of coverage and effective dates of the insurance. If you do not have the appropriate coverage, you can purchase it online by going to www.nsamaryland.com/youth and clicking on the Insurance link and following the procedures detailed there. Insurance certificates can be confusing. If you have one, but are uncertain that it is appropriate, please consult your NSA State Director or the specific tournament director. Please note that no team will be allowed to participate in an NSA sanctioned event without proper liability coverage – no exceptions. Once the state director has your NSA team sanctioning registration payment, you will receive your sanction # via an email and be able to enter your team roster online by going to www.nsamaryland.com/youth and clicking on the Online Roster link. Please note that all teams must enter their rosters online (please disregard the note about league teams do not need to enter their rosters online). Follow the procedures found there to enter all of your players. You will need their names, date of birth, and address. You must also enter the insurance certificate policy number where designated in the online form. Once the online roster is complete, please print a copy of it and have all of your players and their parents sign the form. A copy of the roster and insurance certificate should be made for you to keep and the original roster and copy of your insurance certificate sent to the appropriate NSA State Youth Director as instructed at the site. Many of the above steps can be done in parallel to speed the process. However, you should expect the whole process to take 10 to 14 days, so start early. When all of the above steps are completed, your team is sanctioned. Once you have received your sanction number from NSA you may register for any or as many of the NSA tournaments as necessary. To register for a specific tournament, again go online and go to www.nsamaryland.com/youth and click on the Tournaments button. Select the tournament you desire to register your team for by clicking on the tournament name and then follow the procedures detailed there. The last step in the process is to print the completed/submitted tournament registration form and mail it with a check for payment of the tournament registration fee to the tournament director as instructed. If you are not a Maryland or Delaware team, you should also send a copy of your insurance certificate and signed roster to the Maryland NSA State Youth Director (see address below). You should also submit your payment to the tournament director with a copy of the tournament registration form generated at the NSA Maryland web site when your register for the tournament. If you desire to register for more than one tournament, just repeat the above tournament registration step for each one. When you go to a tournament, you should bring a copy of your roster, insurance certificate, and a copy of all of the birth certificates of your players. These will NOT be turned in at the tournament, but are subject to review at any time. The NSA Rulebook is online and can be accessed at www.nsamaryland.com/youth by clicking on the Online Rule Book link. Because of the nature of this tournament certain playing rules have been adapted. All correspondence with the Maryland NSA State Youth Director should be sent to the following address: |
