I joined the Maryland Stars program 3 years ago as a sophomore in high school with the hopes of finding a fun, hardworking team I could be a part of. Previously, I had played on several teams within various organizations, all of which turned out to be very disappointing seasons. However, the Maryland Stars was different, it was a rewarding experience that enabled me to further my skills both on the field and in life itself.
It was an honor to be a part of such a well known and respected organization. I loved being a part of the team that played with such enthusiasm and energy that even when tournaments didn’t end in our favor, I could hold my head high and be proud. I will miss being able to walk out onto the field representing the Maryland Stars, and I will never forget my years playing with them.
Describe your most memorable moment of playing softball. (1 paragraph) |
I don’t really have one moment of playing softball that stands out more then any other. Truthfully, what I remember the most after all these years, most people p rob ably wouldn’t even consider to be worthy of remembering, yet to me it is. It wasn’t a fantastic play that I made, or a game winning hit in the bottom of the 7 th with two outs, I was just playing ball in a college showcase tournament. The thing is, that the temperature was below freezing (or at least that’s what it felt like) and it was windy. I was out there playing in layers of underarmor, sweats, and a winter hat, along with the rest of my team. It hurt to hit the ball, and yet we still swung with all our might, enduring the numbing, needle-prickling sensation that would travel up our entire arm. We continued to play because we loved the game, we were dedicated and determined. I was told I was crazy to play in that weather, but that didn’t matter. It was cold, and every bone in my body was stiff and sore, but I wanted to play, and so I did. |
